The Anthropogenic Climate Change Scam

There is important scientific evidence that disagrees with the left leaning promulgation of greenhouse gas caused climate change.

Dr. Roy Spencer is a principal research scientist for the University of Alabama in Huntsville, as well as the U.S. Science Team Leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer (AMSR-E) on NASA’s Aqua satellite.  He is known for his work with the satellite-based temperature monitoring for which he and Dr. John Christy received NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal [Wikipedia]. 

Dr. Spencer suggests that global warming is mostly due to natural internal variability, and that the climate system is quite insensitive to humanity’s greenhouse gas emissions.

Dr. Wie-Hock “Willie” Soon of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics says the Sun is a primary driver of climate change — and has a far greater impact than changes in CO_2.  Further, climate science is corrupted and co-opted by multiple non-scientific forces.  The movement toward renewable energy source, is not a sign of progress, but regression toward the lower energy densities of the pre-industrial age.

For all the focus on carbon dioxide, the most important greenhouse gas in the climate system is water vapor. And carbon dioxide is not a “pollutant,” as the term is conventionally used.

While it was true that the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide had been increasing and had passed 400 parts per million, the dominant effect of water vapor had helped flatten the greenhouse effect, such that the rise of global surface temperatures had slowed significantly.

Carbon dioxide is a trace gas that constitutes only about 0.04 percent of earth's total atmosphere. That's just four 100th's of one percent! Concentration is expressed in parts per million. As of Spring 2015 levels were at 401.5 ppm. CO2 is just one of many atmospheric gases. Common sense dictates that such a tiny amount of gas cannot be having any major impact on temperatures.

 CO2 is vital for plant life. At current levels, plants are on a starvation CO2 diet. Global warming alarmists claim that species will become extinct if the planet warms. In reality warmer weather has increased biodiversity. Yet politicians, the media and alarmists have portrayed CO2 as a pollutant.

Follow the money

Thousands of scientists are being paid handsomely to find a connection between human carbon emissions and the climate. Hardly any have been paid to debunk anthropogenic global warming. Much of the debunking work is left to grass roots volunteers.

 

From 1989 until 2009 the U.S. government spent more than $32.5 billion on climate studies. They additionally spent another $79 billion on climate change related technology research, foreign aid and tax breaks for "green energy."

Grant-seeking scientists and others can get very rich from a career in global warming. If you put global warming in your article or research proposal then you qualify for a lucrative government research grant!

Again, follow the money.  Since a Global Warming/Climate Change Crisis event is an excellent opportunity for Centralized Government Regulation/Control, those who develop proof and imminence of the event will get a large portion of available Government funding. This leads to a scam of unprecedented scale.

Where life begins

I feel I really need to say a word about life.  Does life begin at conception or does life begin when the baby draws its first breath?  This is a question that has been thrown out in recent arguments about abortion. If an unborn child’s inability to breathe on its own disqualifies it from being considered a living person, there is a very bad extension that can be drawn.

There are times where, through traumatic event or disease a person, regardless of age, may become unable to breathe on their own and must be given the benefit of artificial ventilation to provide their lungs with life giving air for preservation of their life.

But if ability to breathe is the determining factor, once a person stops breathing should further efforts to save that life be with-held because the definition of life is now a person’s ability to draw their own breath.

Almost everyone will agree that everything should be done to save that life.  We have developed emotional attachments to this person and we do not want to lose them.  So if we can do anything to preserve their lives we will try to save them.

Even if the person in distress is a total stranger, we recognize that person as a living human being, so the fact that they have stopped breathing will not deter us from trying to save their life.

Should we not recognize the unborn child also as a person?

Scare Tactis

What is the best way to control people?

You need to convince them that if they don’t do what you want them to do it will lead to their total annihilation.  What could be scarier than that?

How do you convince them?

You tell them that the consensus (97% or maybe even more) of experts (scientists) agree that they need to change their ways (to what you want them to do) or they will suffer dire consequences due to their own inaction.  Of course if some scientists do not agree you will just tell the people that those scientists have been discredited or have no standing in this field of knowledge.  

If you say a lie loud enough and long enough many people will begin to believe you.  This is called the “BIG LIE”.  In the 20^th century the big lie was used to convince many people that socialism/communism was the savior of humanity.  Many people bought it.  However socialism has always allowed people not to share the wealth but share the misery.  Many people point to some European Countries where socialism has succeeded but on closer examination we see that these countries, when they started to suffer extreme monetary crisis, have pulled back from complete socialism and re-instituted private businesses.  They still retain some socialistic structures but have regained a thriving private sector.

So when you see scare tactics being used to convince you to accept a certain course of action, be wary of the Big Lie.

Fix for our broken Congress

I believe that the Congress should be subject to Term Limits 

(2 for Senators and 3 for Representatives).  

I further believe that they need to retire on Social Security 

and whatever other plan is available to the working public (i.e.  401k plans, etc.) 

and that they need to be subject to any law they pass for the Citizens of this Country, 

for they are, after all, Citizens, not Royalty.

The Value of a Border Wall

Israel has several border walls separating its territories from some of its neighbors. Historically, Israel has experienced several international attacks from countries who feel that Israel should not exist as a country in that area.  For Israel the walls are not the only part of the solution, but they are effective a very important part of their border security.

Here are some other countries who have constructed walls to help protect themselves from their neighbors:  

India, Pakistan, Ukraine, Turkmenistan, China, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, Iran, 

Costa Rica, Maylaysia, Botswana, United Arab Emirates, Slovenia, Belize, South Africa, Kuwait, Hungary, Estonia, Kazakstan, Hungary, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Brunei, Egypt.

And we should not forget the wall constructed by North Korea, though we are not sure that wall is meant to keep South Koreans out or keep the North Koreans in.

While a Border Wall with Mexico would not give us total security, it is clear that it is a very important part of our border security strategy. 

Is America Great?

If not for us, all of Europe would be speaking German today and all of Asia, including China, Thailand, Maylasia, Borneo, Singapore, Indonesia, New Guinea, Bali, East Timor and a good portion of Australia would be speaking Japanese. 

Of course that does not account for our greatness today. That has been thrown away by Liberal/Progressive Causes which have weakened our leadership in the world. We have now regained some of that leadership.  These gains are, however, opposed by those same Liberal/Progressive Forces who say we must keep our borders open and be kinder to our enemies. If we don't offend them maybe they will go easy on us. We are like the one in the water that hopes the sharks will eat us last.  We must stand strong and reaffirm our willingness to stand up to derision and defamation.  We must continue to strive for the resolve to make this country great again. 

Open borders is not a solution.  (Look at what is happening in France, Germany and other European nations that opened their borders to allow the immigration of cheap labor.)  We must be able to ensure that those who come to this country wish to be here as a part of American society and contribute their efforts to this country’s strength.  We must be able to control the numbers of immigrants so they do not overwhelm our ability to absorb them.  They must not come here to take what they can in benefits while waving the flag of the country they left.  The lesson of the Roman Empire is glaring – Rome fell when it failed to protect its borders.

A weak military is also not a solution.  There are other nations of the world who would use their strengths to subdue other nations by force or the threat of force.  They would carve off portions of their neighbors land or areas of international seas for political or strategic gain.  We are not out to conquer land or other nations.  From a position of strength we have acted, not as conquerors, but as protectors of the free world.    

Is America great?  From my point of view we are regaining that position, but we can not rest on our laurels.  We need to continue with those efforts we are making to solidify our position at home and on the world stage. We can not look at ourselves as separate from the rest of the world but as a strong and independent player in the future of international affairs. 

Understanding Global Climate Change

Global Climate Change Understood

The issue of Global Climate Change is often misunderstood.  A better understanding to the phenomena may bring some long over-due sanity to the discussion.

In the geologic history of the Earth, we are in a time of the coldest 10 percent of the climate. In other words, 90 percent of our Earth’s history was too warm to have ice at either pole.

If you go back to the Roman warming periods during the time that Jesus Christ walked the Earth we are actually now cooler than we were then. So we’ve cooled since the time Jesus Christ walked the Earth. We’re actually about the same temperature or cooler since the medieval warm period, since about 900 to 1300.

Thermometer data comes online around 1850, right at the end of the Little Ice Age.  All these things you hear about the glaciers retreating, most of that glacier retreat happened by 1900.

Now, 80 percent of the carbon dioxide came after 1940, or after World War II in 1945. We had a huge warm spell from the 1920s into the ’30s and then, we had a cooling period from the ’50s all the way up to about the late 1970s.

The National Academy of Sciences, the CIA, and some of the same scientists warning of global cooling in the ’70s, then flipped and became global warming proponents.

I remember warnings of the coming Ice Age when I was in elementary school in the late 1950s.

There are many factors affecting GCC (Global Climate Change). 
The most talked about contributing factor is the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere.  Atmospheric CO₂ is a byproduct of the use of fossil fuels, but also is released into the atmosphere in huge amounts by volcanic activity and, to a lesser degree, by continental drift.
Solar activity such as Sun Spots, Flares and UVB levels are also contributing factors. 
Slow changes in the Earth’s orbit and slight changes in the tilt of Earth’s axis will affect GCC as well.
Atmospheric composition and reflectivity as well as surface reflectivity are also factors that affect GCC.

Why then is Atmospheric CO₂ the only factor in the discussion.  The answer is simply because we have been lead to believe that by controlling anthropomorphic CO₂ emissions we can control the Earth’s climate.  This is a vast over simplification but, if accepted, it can be used as a very strong political tool. 

Political action (legislation) is needed to control the use of fossil fuels so we can control the amount of CO₂ released into the atmosphere.  Since there are also natural CO₂ generators, this is pure folly.  Further, as mentioned above, Atmospheric CO₂ is only one factor involved in Global Climate Change, so controlling anthropomorphic (man-made) CO₂ emissions would do little at all to control Global Climate Change.

So what can we do?  Global Climate Change will continue no matter what we do, so we can, and must, adapt our actions and way of life to meet whatever changes it brings on, just like our ancestors have been doing for as long as Humanity has been on this Earth.

In Defense of Freedom

So many have lost their lives in the defense of freedom. We should never forget their sacrifice or the sacrifice of their loved ones left behind. None of these soldiers went into combat wanting to die, but they were willing to face death in the effort to keep tyranny at bay. It is our fervent wish that an era of peace would come to this world, but until it does we must always remain vigilant and willing to defend freedom where ever it is threatened or attacked.

On building walls or bridges

Building Walls or Bridges

Pope Francis, leader of the Roman Catholic Church, made the following statement is response to calls for a wall to be built to protect the US Southern border with Mexico: 

"A person who thinks only about building walls, wherever they may be, and not building bridges, is not Christian,"

The I am a confirmed Christian and a member of the Holy Catholic Church of the Lutheran Denomination.  When we are served communion the announcement is made for all who believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior are invited to the chancel for the service of communion.

Yet, when we attend services in a Roman Catholic Church, with friends or family who belong to that Church, we are denied the service of Communion.

Is that not building walls?  And is not the Vatican a walled city?  The reasons for building borders are not necessarily bad, especially in these times of turmoil.

Remember that Jesus said, “Render unto Ceasar that which is Ceasar’s and render unto God that which is God’s.”  Jesus was telling us to respect the secular laws as well as God’s laws.

The Preamble to the Constitution of the United States is:  We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Without a secured border it would not be possible to provide for the common defense and insure domestic tranquility.  The unsecured borders would also lead to a destabilization of the union, a reduced ability to maintain justice along the border areas.  Eventually, our very liberties, which we cherish so dearly, would be at jeapordy as our way of life dissolves in the wake of the balkanization of the United States.

A discussion on Global Warming and Climate Change

We need to understand that Global Warming is a scam promulgated by the Left to further its own agenda of government expansion and control over the actions of citizens. The Global Warming scam preys on our fears that, by our wasteful actions, we are ruining the climatic environment for future generations and the ensuing guilt that comes with it.

The argument against Global Warming spans economics, politics, and science. The economic and political potency of the climate change industry has made rich people of activists and businessmen alike.  However, global climate changes can be explained by the earth’s natural cycles of warming and cooling which have shed doubt on manipulated computer models, which predict unnatural warming.

The Sahara once used to be partially submerged area where ancient whale fossils are now being uncovered.  Antartica was once a land teeming with ancient life forms, proven by fossil evidence unearthed there.  Parts of the United States used to be covered with seas. All of these drastic changes took place long before people were around, long before our industries and automobiles.

We must remember that the media does love the inherent conflict in Global Warming.  And how can you reasonably deny that our climate is changing.  The evidence of it is seen every year.  Some years are particularly warmer or cooler than others.  Some years we see more Hurricanes or Tornadoes than other years.  I remember, in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina devastated the Gulf Coast, Global Warming proponents were warning us that this was the beginning of an increasing frequency of very destructive hurricanes.  Funny thing is, while we still have destructive hurricanes, their frequency does not seem to have changed very much at all.

The earth has had natural cycles of warming and cooling since long before the industrial revolution or the invention of automobiles.  It should also be obvious that the climate has gotten a lot warmer since the Ice Age.  And while we still go through some years of better or worse local weather patterns, the overall climate has changes but not much. 

However, the climate change industry is a lucrative one, and new industries have emerged as a result of climate change economics.  Liberal political groups see climate change as a reason to expand government to control the use of resources. Those in the left leaning media and political groups who see this as a way to expand control, those scientists who rise to prominence (enrichment) by manipulating statistics and analogous examples and those in industries which profit from catering to climate change control. 

I would like to say that, as beneficiaries of this wonderful world, it is the obligation of everyone on this Earth to treat our environment responsibly to preserve and protect our God given gifts for future generations.  To the best of our mortal abilities we need to reduce waste and pollution and pass on a world as clean as possible.

More times than I care to count, the response to my position is:  “The argument is over.  Global Warming is proven science.”

My response to that is: “When discussion ends, science ends.”  

The Journey

On January fifteenth I began a new journey.  I had been suffering with increasing pain from Osteo-Arthritis of the knees for the past fifteen years.  With the encouragement of my wife, Susan, and many friends I had finally decided to see an orthopedic surgeon to explore corrective options.

The first doctor I went to see was highly recommended by some friends who had gone through knee replacement surgery.  I was not entirely happy with his approach and after discussing my dissatisfaction with Susan, she went to work doing an internet search for a new doctor to provide a second opinion.  She narrowed the search by comparing location, experience, background and any reviews available.  We finally settled on a doctor working out of University of California at Irvine, Medical Center in Orange, California. 

We made an appointment and went for an evaluation.  I was impressed with the thoroughness of his diagnostics and his straight forward approach.  By the time we left my surgery was scheduled for January 15^th  2015 at 8:00 am. 

When we checked in to UCI Medical Center Surgery Center at 6:00am as required we were given a pager.  The surgical reception center was set up to be very patient/family friendly.  A large TV screen displayed each patient’s progress through the process – in pre-op, surgery, recovery and when assigned to a room.  I went into pre-op a little before 7:00am and surgery began by 8:00am.  Surgery was completed by 11:00am and I went into the recovery room, where Susan joined me to give me her loving support.  By 1:00pm I was in my hospital room with Susan by my side and lunch delivered to my bed.  Susan had ordered, from the hospital cafeteria, pizza and fruit for me for lunch.  It was delicious.    

At 2:00pm I was visited by the Physical Therapist.  He had me sit up in the bed with my feet over the side and, after checking out my coordination, had me stand up and with the support of a walker went for a short walk.  When we got back to the room and I was back in bed, he informed me that we had walked for a total of 50 feet. 

The next day the Physical Therapist showed up at 7:00am for a follow-up.  This time I walked 250 feet with the walker and went up and down the staircase without incident.  When the Doctor came  around at 9:00am to check up on me I told him I was ready to be discharged.  He checked me out and agreed and I was discharged at 11:00am on the 16th. 

I spent the 17^th working on exercises to increase range of motion, strength and walking with the assistance of the walker.  The 18^th I folded  up the walker and put it away.   I also took a walk for about ¼ mile and continued with my other exercises. 

From that time until my appointed time for surgery on my other knee I continued the exercises and was doing quite well.   But on March 19^th I checked into the hospital for the replacement surgery on my other knee.  This time my surgery did not start until 11:00am and was not complete until almost 2:00pm.   I was in my room and (thanks to Susan) eating lunch by 3:00pm.  The Physical Therapist came around about 3:30pm.  I was anxious to walk (because I wanted to make sure I could be discharged the next day), but the Therapist, out of an abundance of caution, was not ready for me to do that.  He said he would be back the next morning.

At 9:00am the next morning the Physical Therapist arrived and asked me if I was ready to go for a walk.  I got up and, with the help of the walker, went for a walk.  After we had gone down to the end of the hall, the Therapist asked me if I was ready to go back.  I told him that I wanted to go down the next hallway and he said ok.  We continued on for two more hallways until we came to the door to the stairway.  I told him that I wanted to climb the stairs.  Though he seemed a little concerned he said ok.  I was able to make it up and down the stairs ok and I could tell he was impressed (at least I thought so).  Then we continued back to my room where Susan was anxiously waiting (what a sweetie). 

I got back into bed (none too soon) and the Therapist asked me when I was going to be discharged.  I told him that I expected to be discharged this morning and he said ok.  Later the Orthopedic Resident came by and gave me the once over.  I told him I would like to be discharged as soon as possible.  He told me everything looked good.  I was discharged by 11:00am. 

Now the exercises started all over again, and at first it seemed like such a struggle.  With the support and help of my Angel Susan and grandson Tyler, I have made it back, over the past two weeks, to where I feel like I am making some real progress.

I do want to mention the professional and considerate care I have received from Ran Schwartzkopf, MD my orthopedic surgeon and the staff at UC Irvine Health Center in Orange.  You have made this journey as easy as it could get.

A Challenge

To all who believe there is an unfair distribution of income and wealth in this country, here is a challenge.

Let’s take all the people in the United States, whether they are rich or poor, janitors or CEOs, stock boys or stock brokers, fishermen or congressmen, cleaning service employees or government employees, floor sweepers or teamsters, in office or office cleaners, everyone who works or should be working for a living, and have the Government Accounting Office calculate the average wage for everyone.

Next, let us guarantee that average wage to everyone in the country and take anything over that from all who are making more than the average (movie stars, politicians and statesmen included).

We don’t want to base this on taxable income only, but all income, just to be fair.

If you make over that average income and you are in favor of this then you may decry the inequities of income and wealth distribution all you like and, I am sure of course, that you donate all of your excess income to charitable causes .

If you make over that average income and are not for this and you still want to say how unfair a free market society is, you are a hypocrite and you should just be quiet.

Faith

Faith lives in us all. This is true for those who hold a belief in a higher power as well as those of us who do not.


Yes, faith can be a belief in the unseen as well as a belief that there is nothing in the unseen world, or that there is no world beyond what we can see.


In science, the pioneers are always those who can see something others can not. They are the ones who know there are answers to the unknown and find a way to reveal those answers. They have faith that they can find the answers when others do not even know the questions.


The founders of the United States had faith in a government of the people, by the people and for the people, and the people and went about creating it. They also had a faith in the rightness of their cause and in their God.


Yet there are those who have faith that God does not exist. They believe that Jesus was just a man, if not a myth. But they can not disprove the existence of God. They can only have faith that He does not exist.


As for me, I will cherish my faith and my God who has revealed Himself to me in countless ways. I will continue to know of my God, the Father, Creator of the all, in His Son, our Savior, and in the Holy Spirit that dwells with us today and forever.

The New Year has begun.

Let us put the pains and sorrows of the past behind us,
but let us keep the joys we have experienced deep within our hearts.

Let us forget about the shame of our mistakes
but never forget the lessons we have learned.

Let us find the kindness in our hearts to forgive the transgressions of others
and find the courage in our souls to protect the weak and the ones we love.

Let hate fall away and charity guide us
and let our Faith grow in strength and bring us peace.

May God be with you all as we journey through this New Year.

John Wooden

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Coach John Wooden tonight. He was a remarkable man, not only for his championship coaching record in basketball, but in his championship coaching in life skills.

He was an idol for many and an inspiration for many more. He was 99 years old and had a wonderful life. We were blessed by his life.

Unexpected Result

"Get this." said Sam to his friends, "Last night,
while I was down at the bar with you guys, a
burglar broke into my house.

"Did he get anything?" Greg asked.

Sam said, "Yeah, a broken jaw, six teeth knocked
out, and a pair of broken ribs."

Greg wondered, "Whoa! But... how???"

Sam replied, "Well, it was really late at night
and Anni thought it was *me* coming home drunk!!"

The Kiss Principle

So often we forget:

Keep it Simple Stupid.

The simpler any task, or operation, is to perform, the fewer mistakes, errors or malfunctions will occur.

Conversely, the greater the complexity of any task, device or operation, the greater the chance for mistakes, errors, malfunctions and failure.

The higher the degree of complexity in a system, the greater is the need for safeguards against mistakes, errors, malfunctions and failures. Without adequate safeguards designed into the system, the result will be persistent failures.

Going to Heaven?

Father Murphy walks into a pub in Donegal, and asks the first man he meets, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'

The man said, 'I do, Father.'

The priest said, 'Then stand over there against the wall.'

Then the priest asked the second man, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'

'Certainly, Father,' the man replied.

'Then stand over there against the wall,' said the priest.

Then Father Murphy walked up to O'Toole and asked, 'Do you want to go to heaven?'

O'Toole said, 'No, I don't Father.'

The priest said, 'I don't believe this. You mean to tell me that when you die you don't want to go to heaven?'

O'Toole said, 'Oh, when I die , yes. I thought you were getting a group together to go right now.'

Olympics

I can remember watching the Olympics from a young age as they began to be broadcast on television.

Watching the winter olympics now I am even more impressed with the accomplishments of these young athletes. They almost seem to defy the laws of physics in their gravity defying feats.

My congratulations to all of them, both those who tried their best and to those who actually won their events. You are all icons of dedication and persistence.

I hope these qualities follow you throught life and bring you success in all you do.
